The Leisure Diagnostic Battery (LDB) is a collection of self-report instruments for assessment of leisure functioning. The pivotal concept measured within the LDB is named perceived freedom in leisure (PFL). In the context of the LDB, perceived freedom in leisure is a relatively stable set of beliefs that individuals hold about their ability to participate in recreation activities and to derive personal benefits from that participation.
The LDB includes other measures of concepts that are related to perceived freedom in leisure or are considered to be useful in helping other people increase their perceived freedom in leisure. These concepts include recreation activity type preferences, recreation activity style preferences, and barriers to recreation participation. The LDB has been used for both assessment and research purposes in institutional and community settings. A User Manual is included on the CD in PDF format.
